With the ice-cold winds from the 'mini beast from the east' winter storm still battering parts of the UK and snow still lurking on our fields and roads, you would find it hard to believe that today is, in fact, the official first day of Spring. 

This year in the northern hemisphere the Spring or Vernal Equinox falls on Tuesday 20th March 2018. The equinox marks the day when day and night are the same lengths all over the world, with the word equinox literally meaning ‘equal night’ in Latin.

The spring equinox marks the change of the seasons and as the northern hemisphere begins to tilt towards the sun, our days start to get longer and our nights shorter. In the northern hemisphere, we enjoy the arrival of spring and the promise of warmer days. To our friends in the southern hemisphere, however, this marks the changing of their seasons to autumn.

The first day of spring for many of us signifies an opportunity to perform a 'spring clean'. Tasks such as, out with the old and in with the new, a deep clean of our homes, office spaces or a simply a tidy-up of our desk draws.  However, why not utilise the first day of spring to spring clean your IT environment. Take some time to review your infrastructure, hardware and software systems. Tidy up old email archives, delete unused and unwanted data or start planning your next IT/Digital project.
